Dartmouth

Antone Cardoza, age 91, of Dartmouth, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, August 21, 2025. He was the cherished husband of Theresa (Luiz) Cardoza, with whom he shared 45 years of a devoted and loving marriage.

Born on June 14, 1934, in New Bedford, Massachusetts, Antone was the son of the late Joaquim Cardoso and Patrocinia (Miquelina) Cardoso. His life was marked by a deep commitment to both his family and his professional endeavors. After earning his Master’s Degree, he began his career working as a teacher in Fairhaven. His dedication to service later led him to serve as a probation officer for the 3rd District Court, where he touched many lives with his guidance and support. He then concluded his professional career as a sales agent for Boston Mutual Life Insurance Company.

Antone was a true sports enthusiast, remaining a loyal fan of the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots throughout his life. In his youth, he enjoyed playing baseball for the Mt. Carmel C.Y.O., showcasing his love for the game and camaraderie among teammates. His passion extended beyond sports; he held a special love for animals, often finding joy in their company. One of his fondest weekly traditions was attending what he referred to as his "Breakfast Club" every Thursday, an occasion where he shared laughter, stories, and quality time with his cherished friends. This gathering was a testament to his belief in the importance of connection and camaraderie. Antone’s legacy of love, dedication, and service will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Theresa Cardoza; his nephew, Kenneth Correia and his wife Marguerite; his great-nephew, Jason Correia; his great-nieces, Annice Correia-Gabel and Emma Loomis; and his godchild, Gregory Correia. Antone also leaves behind one great-great-niece and two great-great-nephews, who will fondly remember the warmth and affection he shared with them.

Antone was preceded in death by his sister, Elaine Correia, and his nephew, John Correia, Jr., both of whom he loved dearly.
