Betty Lou Jeffrey

Betty Lou Jeffrey (Bettencourt), 83, passed away on October 17, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.

Betty was a longtime resident of Dartmouth, MA, where she raised her family and lived a life full of joy, laughter, and countless memories. She loved music and dancing and was known to “twist and shout” at a moment’s notice. Betty also loved to sing, often on a whim and always with a smile. A lover of puzzles, games, camping, and the outdoors, Betty was always up for fun and making memories.

Betty raised an amazing family that began 64 years ago when she married the love of her life, Rene Jeffrey Sr. Throughout those 64 years of children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, nothing brought her more joy than time spent with her family. Affectionately known as Betty Boop or Nana Banana, her laughter will be deeply missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Betty is survived by her husband of 64 years, Rene Jeffrey Sr.; daughters Sharon Furtado, wife of the late Bruce Furtado, Rhonda Audette and her husband Marc, and Cheryl Jeffrey and her companion Martin; and sons Rene Jeffrey Jr. and his wife Monique, the late Alan Jeffrey and his wife Barbara, and Jamie Jeffrey. She also leaves behind 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 12 siblings in which 8 of whom survive her and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Perry Funeral Home, located at 111 Dartmouth St, New Bedford, MA, which provides ample lighted parking and is equipped with a handicap-accessible ramp and entrance for all who wish to pay their respects.
