It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Carolina (Medeiros) Arruda, who left this world on Sunday, June 22, 2025, at St. Luke’s Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Carolina, age 99, was born in New Bedford on May 1, 1926, and was the devoted wife of the late Edward S. Arruda.
She was the beloved daughter of the late Marie C. (Lopes) Medeiros and Frank Medeiros. For many years, she dedicated herself to her work as a line worker for Nye Lubricant, demonstrating a strong work ethic and commitment to her responsibilities. Despite her industrious nature, Carolina found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved to shop, enjoy coffee with friends, and dress up to attend church, where she often found solace and community.
Carolina is survived by her daughter, Kathleen M. Daley, and her husband, James Robert. She leaves behind cherished grandchildren, Scott A. Nolin, Christopher P. Nolin, and Michael Arruda, alongside six great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Shelby, Jake, Lacie, Sydney, and Drew, who will carry forward her legacy of love. Carolina is also remembered by her siblings, Agnes Lavesari, Magdalene Adams, Daniel Medeiros, and Richard Medeiros, as well as a host of nieces and nephews, each touched by her kindness.
Though Carolina was predeceased by her son, the late Edward W. Arruda, and her brothers, the late Frank, David, Edward and Ronald Medeiros, her spirit continues to thrive in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Carolina’s legacy of love, strength, and kindness will forever remain an indelible mark on the lives she has influenced.
Friends and family are invited to honor her memory in a manner that reflects the warmth and intimacy she brought to their lives. All attendees are kindly asked to meet directly at St. Martin's Episcopal Church on the corner of County and Rivet Street for a Funeral Mass to be held at 10:00 A.M.e
