Caroline Pacheco

Caroline (Canha) Pacheco, age 70, of Dartmouth, MA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 16th, 2025, at St. Luke’s Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was the cherished wife of Jacinto M. Pacheco, with whom she shared a deep, enduring love.

Born on May 28, 1955, in New Bedford, MA, Caroline was the beloved daughter of Frank Canha and the late Mary Jesus (Sylvia) Canha. Her legacy is one of warmth, generosity, and unwavering support for her family and friends. Caroline loved animals, particularly cats, as well as cooking and culinary culture. Her home was one where all were welcomed, and Caroline adored decorating for every holiday.

Caroline had a dedicated career as a claim adjuster for Smithwick & Mariners Insurance, where her professionalism and kindness left a lasting impression on her colleagues. She had previously worked in banking, and balanced her professional life with her devotion to family, nurturing relationships that brought joy and connection. Her favorite place in the world was Martha’s Vineyard, where she spent many summer vacation days with her family.

She is survived by her husband, Jacinto M. Pacheco; her son, George Pacheco, and his wife Melanie; and her grandchild, Jesse M. Pacheco, who will cherish fond memories of their time together. Caroline is also survived by her siblings, Linda Sylvia and her husband Richard, and Joyce Winderlick and her husband George. She held dear the bonds with her nieces and nephews, Rachel, Michael, Elizabeth, Natalie and Maggie; her sisters-in-law, Maria Pacheco and Maria Fatima DeMelo; as well as her aunt, Vicki and her cousins Wendy and Cheryl.

Caroline’s life was filled with love, laughter, and a commitment to those in her life. Her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends as they celebrate her rich and beautiful life by continuing Caroline’s selfless generosity, boundless empathy and quiet grace.

In honoring Caroline's wishes, her funeral services will be held privately with her family and close friends.
