Cezar J. Bettencourt

Cezar J. Bettencourt, 84 of New Bedford, passed away on Friday, May 30, 2025, surrounded by his loving Family.

Cezar was born on October 13, 1940. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Carole Bettencourt; his son Douglas Bettencourt and his wife, Judy; His daughter Lisa Bettencourt and her partner, Wayne. He is also survived by his 4 grandchildren: Christopher Platt and his wife Christine; Ian Bettencourt and his partner, Melissa; Cody Platt; and Kendra Platt and her partner, Brandon. Cezar is also survived by his sisters, Joan Smith and her husband, Ernie; Betty Jeffrey and her husband, Rene Sr.; Linda Andrews; Susan Price and her husband, John; and Mari-Jo Medeiros; brothers; Michael Bettencourt and his wife, Mary-Liz; Kenneth Bettencourt and his wife, Diane; Stephen Bettencourt; and Ronnie Bettencourt; Additionally, countless nieces and nephews. Cezar was preceded in death by his loving parents, Cezar and Mary Jo Bettencourt, and his siblings, Catherine Ponte, Joyce Bettencourt, and Randall Bettencourt.

Cezar graduated from Dartmouth High School in 1958 where he excelled in track and established many school records. Subsequently, he enjoyed a long career at Titleist, retiring after 42 years of dedicated service.

Cezar was a devoted father and grandfather, affectionally known as “Gramps.” He also loved spoiling his grand dogs.

His passions included coaching baseball, dancing, playing cards, keno, and going to the casino. He loved all sports, particularly football season and his little blue football cards.

Cezar was a proud man, proud of the family that he built and proud of the legacy that he now leaves behind.

Services will be private at the family’s request.
