Charles W. Edwards

Charles W. Edwards, age 67, of Taunton, MA, passed away on August 12, 2025, in Newport, RI., surrounded by his loving family. Charles was the common law husband of the late Norma “Edwards” Marshall.

Born in New Bedford, “Chuckie” was the son of Anne L. (Vera) Leddy. He dedicated many years of his life to the maintenance and repairing of various fishing vessels in the New Bedford harbor. His knack for creativity shone through his craftsmanship of being able to fix “anything”, and through his appreciation for music. Known for his wonderful storytelling, Chuckie had a remarkable ability to bring laughter to those around him, making him a most cherished presence in the lives of family and friends. He had an avid passion for all his beloved animals, as well as all wildlife.

Chuckie is survived by his son, Jason Leddy, and his grandson, Brandon Leddy. He also leaves behind his beloved sisters, Anne Tavares and her late husband Gregory, and Nancy Ludwig and her husband Michael. He is additionally survived by his brother Robert Leddy and his wife Amber, as well as several nieces and nephews, who affectionately referred to him as “Uncle Buck”.

Chuckie's funeral and visiting hours will be private. He will find his final resting place at Our Lady of Fatima Cemetery in Little Compton, Rhode Island.
