Charles R. Gaspar, age 83, of New Bedford, MA, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, November 2, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. His passing marks the close of a remarkable life defined by hard work, devotion, and deep love for those around him.
Born on February 28, 1942, in New Bedford, Charles was the beloved son of the late Charles A. Gaspar and Mary Mercedes (Frias) Gaspar. He was a proud graduate of Our Lady of Mount Carmel School and New Bedford High School, where he first learned the values of faith, integrity, and perseverance that would guide him throughout his life.
Charles dedicated his career to the family business, Gaspar’s Sausage Company, where he served as President and carried forward the proud traditions of his family’s name. Under his leadership, the company continued to thrive, and his work left a lasting mark on the community he cherished.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Charles was deeply devoted to his family. He is survived by his partner of more than 30 years, Annette Scrocca, whose love and companionship enriched his life. He was a proud and loving father to Chuck Gaspar and his wife Sue of Dartmouth, Randy Gaspar and his wife Tammi of Mattapoisett, and Christine Cannata and her husband Christopher of Cranston, RI.
Charles found immense joy in his grandchildren Jeffrey, Billy, and Andrew and his great-grandchildren, Cecilia and little Charlie, who brought him endless happiness in his later years. He is also lovingly remembered by his sister, Sandra Baczek and her husband Stanley, along with several nieces and nephews who held a special place in his heart.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 11:30 A.M. All attendees are kindly asked to meet directly at the church. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. Cremation will follow.
Charles R. Gaspar will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and the legacy of love he leaves behind. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
