Charles Viera

Charles Viera, age 87, peacefully passed away on Friday, January 9, 2026, at Sippican Nursing Facility, surrounded by his loving family. Born on September 26, 1938, in New Bedford, Massachusetts, Charlie was the cherished son of the late Maria (Rebello) Viera and Joseph Viera. He was the beloved husband of the late Joycelyn "Joyce" M. Viera.

Throughout his life, Charlie was an enthusiastic supporter of his local sports teams, enjoying watching the Celtics and Patriots. In his younger years, he was known to play basketball, a sport that held a special place in his heart.

Charlie is survived by his two sons, Charles E. Viera and his wife Cinthia, and Robert Viera. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Jordan Viera and his wife Jenna, and Tyler Viera, as well as six brothers and seven sisters, who will deeply miss his presence.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at Perry Funeral Home, located at 111 Dartmouth Street, New Bedford, MA, from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., with a service to take place during the visitation. Burial will take place at a later date.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Perry Funeral Home, which provides a lighted parking lot and a handicap-accessible ramp and entrance for all who wish to pay their respects. Charlie's legacy will be cherished by all who knew him.
