David M. Boswell

David M. Boswell, age 89, of New Bedford, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2026, at Care One New Bedford, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Virginia (Blain) Boswell. He was a dedicated family man and a respected member of his community.

Born on December 29, 1936, in New Bedford, Massachusetts, David was the cherished son of the late Joseph A. Boswell and Helen F. (McKenna) Boswell.

David worked hard throughout his life to provide for his family doing many different jobs including starting businesses cleaning carpets and providing van transportation services.

His family and friends remember him fondly for his kindness and dedication. Though he is no longer with us, the memory of his gentle spirit and steadfast love will endure in the hearts of those who knew him. David’s life was one of dedication, love, and service. He will be deeply missed by his family and community alike. May he rest in peace.

David is survived by his 3 children, David and Samantha Boswell of Fairhaven Ma., Steve and Linda Boswell of New Bedford Ma., and Colleen Boswell of New Bedford Ma.

David is also survived by his brother, John Boswell of Ct. and 3 sisters, Patricia Martins of New Bedford, Elizabeth Mello of Acushnet Ma., and Mary Pimental of Dartmouth, Ma.; his 6 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren, with 2 more on the way; as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his siblings, Raymond Boswell, Joseph Boswell, Paul Boswell, Helen Novia, Lawrence Boswell, and Leo Boswell. His son, Daniel Boswell and his grandaughter, Heather Boswell.

Visiting hours to honor David will be held on Thursday, April 16, 2026 at Perry Funeral Home from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John Neumann Church in Freetown at 11:00 AM. Burial will immediately follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Dartmouth.

Perry Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements and extends a warm welcome to all who wish to pay their respects. The facility is thoughtfully equipped with a handicap-accessible ramp and entrance to accommodate all attendees comfortably.
