Eleanor (Medeiros) Luiz

Eleanor (Medeiros) Luiz, age 90, of Dartmouth and recently Acushnet, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at her daughter’s home, embraced by the love of her family.

Born on September 27, 1935, in New Bedford, MA, Eleanor was the cherished daughter of the late Antone and Josephine Medeiros. Her career as a Home Health Aide reflected her compassionate nature and commitment to caring for others.

Eleanor was a strong independent woman. Since childhood she enjoyed spending her days at Apponagansett beach and the Dartmouth Town Landing. Eleanor's memory will be lovingly celebrated by all who knew her.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Rowena Luiz, and her loving sons, Russell Luiz and his wife Judith, and Manuel Luiz and his wife Sherrie. Eleanor was a proud grandmother to Margaret and Russell Luiz, Jay Souza, Roger Medeiros Jr, and Katie Ann Luiz, and a great-grandmother to Lilith Marie Souza. She leaves behind siblings Joyce Balestracci, Joan Mendoza, Elaine Silvia, Antone, Joseph, Brian, and Barry Medeiros, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Eleanor was predeceased by her beloved daughter, Candy Marie Souza, and siblings Gary, Arnold, and David Medeiros, and Judy Galego.

Friends and family are invited to honor Eleanor during visiting hours on Monday, June 29, 2026, at Perry Funeral Home from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM, followed by a service at 12:30 PM. Interment will take place immediately after in South Dartmouth Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers please consider donating to Buzzards Bay Area Habitat for Humanity Ramp Donation Program in honor of Eleanor Luiz.
