Eliezer Lopez

Eliezer Lopez, age 70, of Fairhaven, MA, passed away on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at St. Luke’s Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on October 5, 1954, in Ponce, Puerto Rico, he was the beloved son of Carmen Luisa (Soto Lopez) Martinez and step-father, Miguel Martinez and the late Camelo Cruz. At the tender age of one, Eliezer moved to New Bedford, MA, where he became a cherished member of the community over the years.

Eliezer proudly served in the United States Army, which reflected his strong sense of duty and commitment to his country. After his military service, he dedicated many years of his life to working as a fish cutter for Turk's Seafood, contributing his skills to the local industry.

Eliezer is survived by his his mother, Carmen Soto Lopez Martinez, along with her husband Miguel Martinez, his siblings, Luis Rodriguez Lopez and Carmelo Lopez; step-siblings, Jose Martinez, Angel Martinez, Maria M. Gonzalez, Rosa Martinez Rodriguez, Maribel Martinez; his nieces, Carmen Dejesus her husband Joshua Dejesus, Theresa Cruz, Kim Cruz, Pamela Cruz, Kelly Slocum, Lisa Gather, Irene Lafluer, Cynthia Beaulieu, Cheyenne Cruz, and his nephews, Jeremiah Rodriguez , Ethan Lopez.

He was predeceased by his late siblings, Abraham Cruz, Jesse Lopez, Sandra Lopez and Maribel Martinez.

Visiting hours for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at Perry Funeral Home from 5:30 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. A funeral service will take place the following morning, beginning at the funeral home at 9:00 A.M., and followed with a service to be held at the International Church of the Nazarene located at 286 Pleasant Street, New Bedford, MA at 10:00 A.M. Following the service, cremation will take place.

The family wishes to express their gratitude for the love and support they have received during this difficult time.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Perry Funeral Home, located at 111 Dartmouth St, New Bedford, MA, which offers an ample lighted parking lot and is equipped with a handicap-accessible ramp and entrance for all who wish to pay their respects.
