Emerita (Roldan Medina) Tevenal

Emerita (Roldan Medina) Tevenal of New Bedford, Massachusetts, passed away on Friday, July 18, 2025, at St. Luke’s Hospital at the age of 83 surrounded by her loving family.

Emerita was the devoted wife of the late Rafael Tevenal Sr.

Born on September 26, 1941, in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, Emerita was the cherished daughter of the late Marcelino Roldan and Angelina (Medina) Roldan. Throughout her life, she embodied the essence of compassion and dedication as a loving homemaker, nurturing her family with warmth and care. Emerita cherished her friends and was always supportive, assisting anyone she was able to.

Emerita leaves behind a legacy of love through her five surviving children: Mirta Tevenal, Edwin Tevenal, Luz Tevenal, Rafael Tevenal Jr., and Aide Tevenal. Her three deceased children, Enrique (Ricky) Tevenal, Gladys Tevenal and Angel Tevenal were in heaven waiting to be reunited with her. Emerita is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom were a great source of joy in her life. In addition, she is remembered fondly by four brothers and three sisters, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who will carry on her spirit within their hearts.

The family will gather to honor Emerita's life during visiting hours and funeral services to be held on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at Perry Funeral Home. Visiting hours will take place from 10:00 a.m. to noon with a service scheduled at 12:00 p.m. Following the service, she will be laid to eternal rest in Rural Cemetery.

Emerita will be forever remembered for her unwavering love and the indelible mark she left on the lives of those who knew her. Her spirit will continue to shine brightly through the memories she created with her family and friends.

Lastly, the family would like to express sincere gratitude for the stellar care Emerita received at St. Luke's Hospital and at the CareOne Nursing Facility. The doctors, nurses and aides were compassionate and kind and their efforts to make Emerita comfortable means the world to us.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Perry Funeral Home, located at 111 Dartmouth Street, New Bedford.
