Emanuel Evangelho Garcia

Emmanuel Evangelho Garcia, age 51, of New Bedford, MA, passed away on Saturday, June 7, 2025. He was the husband of Paula C. (Sousa) Garcia.

Born on July 19, 1973, and raised in Sao Caetano, Pico, Azores, Emmanuel was the beloved son of Ana Guilhermina (Evangelho) Garcia and the late Manuel Celestino Garcia. At the tender age of 16, he embarked on a new chapter by moving to America, where he began his career in Drywall and Framing in 1996—a vocation that quickly developed into his true love and passion.

Emmanuel is survived by his wife, Paula Garcia; his son, Tanner Garcia; and his daughters, Michelle Garcia and her fiancé Jordan Medeiros, along with their soon-to-be-born baby, Emanuel’s first grandchild to be, Jordan Manny Medeiros; Juliannie Garcia, Jarilis Garcia, and Ariana Garcia. His lasting legacy will also live on through his siblings: brother, Rui Garcia; sister, Ana Garcia and her husband Marco Oliveira, along with their children, Ines Oliveira and Andre Oliveira; and brother, Cesar Garcia and his wife Iva Santos Leal, along with their daughter Maria Leal Garcia. He is also survived by his beloved pets, who brought him great joy.

Emmanuel was a man with a deep appreciation for life, finding immense joy in his adega in Pico and a profound love for the ocean and boating. He relished every moment spent on the grill and took pride in gathering with family around the dinner table for good meals, where laughter and stories were shared. His culinary preferences included lapas, a hearty steak plate, and ice cream, always complemented by a cold Budweiser. A steadfastly reliable individual, Emmanuel was known for his selflessness, always willing to help others and take the shirt off his back for those in need.

The community and all who knew him will remember Emmanuel Evangelho Garcia not only for his warm spirit and nurturing heart but also for the moments of shared happiness and the indelible mark he left on the lives of those he touched. He will be dearly missed.

Visiting hours and funeral services for Emmanuel will be held on Monday, June 16, 2025 at Perry Funeral Home. Visiting hours will be held from 10:00 A.M. - 12:00 P.M. with a service to take place at 12:00 P.M. Burial will immediately follow in Rural Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Perry Funeral Home, located at 111 Dartmouth Street, New Bedford.
