Florentina “Cristina/Tina” Mendoza, age 81, longtime resident of New Bedford, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at Brandon Woods of Dartmouth. Surrounded by the love and care of her family, Florentina’s departure marks the end of a life filled with devotion, warmth, and enduring commitment. Tina was the faithful and loving wife of the late Johnny Mendoza. Together they built a family rooted in love, strength, and devotion.
Born on October 27, 1944, in Gurabo, Puerto Rico, Florentina was the cherished daughter of the late Cristino Ramos and Demetria Roman. Raised in a close-knit community, she embodied the values of love and dedication that would define her life. Throughout her years, she was a loving homemaker, tending to her family with unwavering care and fostering a nurturing environment for those she held dear.
She is survived by her loving children: John Mendoza, Milton Mendoza and his wife Roxanne Mendoza, Marlon Mendoza, and Melissa Warenycia and her loving partner Jose Perez.
Tina also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Vanessa, Venecia, Viana, Veronica, and Jonathan; as well as her beloved great-grandchildren: Jaxon, Jonah, and Cash.
Tina was a quiet woman, yet incredibly strong in every way. She found joy in being with her family and and treasured the moments spent together. She often spoke about looking forward to the day she would “ir al cielo” — go to heaven — where her family finds comfort knowing she is now at peace.
Her family would also like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Southcoast Health at Home Hospice, especially Larissa and Shantel, whose compassion, advocacy, and care helped make Tina’s transition peaceful and brought comfort to her loved ones during such a difficult time and also to Michelle and Dakota at Brandon Woods Nursing home who went above and beyond and provided exceptional care.
Her gentle presence, caring heart and strength will be dearly missed and forever remembered. Her family takes comfort in knowing she is now reunited with her beloved husband, Johnny, and resting peacefully.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Tina’s life and honor the beautiful memories she leaves behind.
Remember me with love and laughter, for that is how I will remember you all.
