With profound sadness and endless love, we announce the passing of our beloved Genesis Saldaña Gutierrez, age 33, of New Bedford, Massachusetts, who passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at St. Luke’s Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

Born on April 9, 1993, in Fajardo, Puerto Rico, Genesis was the devoted daughter of Jorge Saldaña and Olga I. Gutierrez. She was the beloved wife of Miguel Angel Alicea and the loving mother of Gilliany Michelle Gonzalez Saldaña, who was the center of her world.

Genesis was a beautiful soul whose kindness, strength, and love touched everyone who knew her. She brought light into the lives of her family and friends through her caring heart, warm smile, and unwavering love. Even during life’s most difficult moments, she showed remarkable courage and grace.

She loved traveling, spending time at the beach, enjoying sushi, maintaining a kosher lifestyle, and choosing organic foods. She found joy in creating memories with those she loved and embraced life with gratitude, laughter, and a free spirit.

One of Genesis’s greatest joys was being an aunt. She lovingly spoiled her niece, Zoeliz, and her nephews, Benjamin and Joben, showering them with affection, laughter, and unforgettable moments. Her bond with her siblings, Johana and Josue, was especially close. Together they shared countless memories, unwavering support, and a love that will remain forever.

Genesis will be remembered for her kindness, resilience, generosity, and the deep love she gave so freely to her family and friends. Her beautiful smile, caring nature, and strong spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Tuesday, June 2, 2026 at 7:00 PM at the Spanish Church of God located on 42 S. Sixth Street, New Bedford, MA 02740. Following the services, Genesis will be laid to rest in her beloved homeland of Puerto Rico.

Though our hearts are broken by her loss, we find comfort in knowing that her love remains with us forever. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, compassion, strength, and unconditional love that will never be forgotten.
