Georgina (Dias) Silva

New Bedford – Georgina (Dias) Silva, age 82, of New Bedford, MA passed away on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Jose Pavao Silva.

Georgina was born in Mosteiros, Sao Miguel, Azores and was the daughter of the late Jose Dias and Maria da Conceicao (Medeiros) Dias. She had been a stitcher for many years at several local clothing manufacturers. She loved to crotchet and spending time cooking but especially loved the time she spent with her family.

Georgina is survived by her sons, Paulo Silva, Victor Silva and his wife Fatima and Sergio Silva and his wife Deborah; 2 grandchildren, Nathan and his wife Kayla and Mathew Silva; a great-grandchild, Jameson; her sisters, Maria da Rosario Barrao and Maria da Conceicao Gomes. She is also survived by her step-grandchildren, Alex Tironati and his wife Christine, Amber Tironati, Alyssa Tironati and Azia Tironati and step-great grandchildren, Pearce and Lincoln; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Georgina was predeceased by her brother Manuel Jose Medeiros Dias.

Georgina’s visiting hours will be held on Friday, September 8, 2023 from 5:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. Her funeral will take place on Saturday, beginning in the funeral home at 9:00 A.M. and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:00 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in St. John’s Cemetery.
