Gerald James Cardelli, age 86, of Fairhaven, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at St. Luke’s Hospital. Born on October 3, 1939, in Fall River, Massachusetts, Gerald lived a life marked by dedication to his family, community, and country.

He was the cherished husband of Mary Ann (Velho) Cardelli, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and partnership. Gerald was the beloved son of the late Antone Cardelli and Eliza (Ferioli) Cardelli. He was predeceased by his brother, John Cardelli, and his son, Gerald Cardelli Jr.

Gerald proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army, demonstrating his commitment and honor early in life. Following his military service, he dedicated many years to working as a custodian for the Taunton Police Department, contributing to the safety and well-being of his community. In his later years, he continued to serve others through his work at Walmart, embodying a steadfast work ethic and gracious spirit.

He leaves behind his devoted wife, Mary Ann; his son, Mark J. Cardelli, and Mark’s wife, Melissa Cardelli; and their children, Elizabeth and Brandon Cardelli. He was also a loving grandfather to Brent and Cory, and a proud great-grandfather to Sadie, Alexander, and Lucius.

Gerald will be remembered for his kindness, his loyalty to family, and his unwavering service to both his country and community. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those who loved him.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gerald’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Funeral services will be private.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth Street, New Bedford, Massachusetts.
