Gil Costa

October 8, 1926 — April 15, 2024

New Bedford

Gil Costa 97 of New Bedford passed away Monday April 15, 2024 at CareOne.

 

Gil was born in South Dartmouth, Ma. on October 6,1926 to Joseph V. Costa and Alice (Pimental) Costa.

 

Gil served proudly in the U.S. Army and upon his returning from service he pursued his love of wine and cooking.

 

Over time becoming a chef and respected sommelier. Working in Boston, New York and Palm Beach.

 

 Later Gil returned to New Bedford to help support and care for his mother. Gil was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel church.

 

Gil always had a zest for life and enjoyed exercising, music and a good meal.  His most precious of time was always spent with his family and friends.

 

He was the second oldest of five children and predeceased by his sister Lillian (Costa) Silva, Eugene Costa, Joseph V. Costa, John Costa.

 

The family is grateful for his loving great nephew Kyle Costa and Ann Silva for watching over him and would also like to thank the staff of CareOne and South Coast Hospice.  

 

Gil’s visiting hours and funeral services will be held on Friday, May 17, 2024 at Perry Funeral Home from 9:30 A.M. – 11:00 A.M. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 11:30 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in St John’s Cemetery.

 

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth Street, New Bedford MA.
