Gloria Maria Colon

Gloria Maria (Rivera Guadalupe) Colon, age 84, peacefully passed away on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at Charlton Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Born on April 12, 1941, in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, Gloria was the cherished daughter of the late Concepcion Rivera and Eva (Guadalupe) Rivera. 

She dedicated a significant portion of her life to her career in the medical records department at Bellevue Hospital in New York City, where she earned the respect and admiration of her colleagues.

Gloria was the beloved wife of the late Manuel Colon. Her legacy is marked not only by her professional accomplishments but also by her deep affection for her family and friends, who will remember her warmth, kindness, and unwavering support. Gloria will be deeply missed, but her spirit will remain in the hearts of those who loved her.

Gloria is survived by her four children, Michelle Colon, Carlos Colon, Eva Ruiz, Alex Colon and 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Visitation services will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at Perry Funeral Home, located at 111 Dartmouth Street, New Bedford, MA, from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Gloria’s burial will take place at a later date in Rosedale Cemetery located in Linden, New Jersey.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Perry Funeral Home, which provides a lighted parking lot and a handicap-accessible ramp and entrance for all who wish to pay their respects.
