Hilda Almeida

Middleborough – Hilda (Garcia) Almeida, age 89, of Berkley, MA passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2024 at the Hannah B.G. Shaw Home for the Aged with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Louis Almeida.

Born in Santa Cruz, Lagoa, St. Michael, Azores she was the beloved daughter of the late Francisco Borges Garcia and Maria da Gloria (de Andrade) Garcia. She had worked as a seamstress for Paul Modes Manufacturing for many years and had also been a quality control specialist for Calvin Klein. 

Hilda had been a very religious woman and a fantastic cook, who loved cooking for family and friends. She loved to sew, crochet and enjoyed spending time at the Dartmouth Council on Aging. Most importantly, above all else, Hilda loved the time she spent with her family.

Hilda is survived by her daughter, Marlene Gajewski and her husband John Gajewski; her son, Frank Almeida and his wife Heidi Almeida; her 3 grandchildren, Justin Almeida, Karoline Gajewski and Abigail Gajewski; her siblings, Manuel Garcia and his wife Millie Garcia and John Garcia and his wife Barbara Garcia; as well as several godchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her late sister, Eduarda Pimentel and her late husband Mariano Pimentel.

Hilda’s visiting hours will be held on Friday, May 24, 2024 at Perry Funeral Home form 5:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. Her funeral will take place on Saturday morning, beginning in the funeral home at 9:00 A.M. and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:00 A.M. Her entombment will immediately follow in St. John Cemetery.
