Irene Ann Gomes

Dartmouth – Irene Ann Gomes, age 89, of New Bedford, MA, passed away on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at Brandon Woods of Dartmouth.

Born in New Bedford, MA she was the beloved daughter of the late Caesar Gomes and Mary (Duarte) Gomes. After graduating high school, Irene pursued her Bachelor’s Degree and went on to become a teacher in the New Bedford Public School System for many years until her retirement. Irene loved all of Boston’s sports teams and enjoyed watching in her free time.

Irene is survived by her sister, Loretta Gant; her brother, Kevin Silva and his wife Marisel; as well as her niece and nephews, Raymond Gant, Aaron Gant, Michelle Gant and Gary Spearman. She was the sister of the late Elaine Gonzalves and Caesar Gomes, Jr. and also aunt of the late, Jeffrey Spearman.

Irene's visiting hours and funeral services will be held on Monday, June 2, 2025. Visiting hours and funeral service will take place at Perry Funeral Home from 10:00 A.M. - 12:00 P.M. with a service to start at 12:00 P.M. Burial will immediately follow in Rural Cemetery.
