Irondina Ferreira

New Bedford – Irondina Ferreira, age 92, of New Bedford, MA passed away peacefully on Monday, February 19, 2024 at the New Bedford Jewish Convalescent Home. She was the beloved wife of the late Manuel Fernandes.

Irondina was born in Sao Miguel, Azores to the late Sofia (de Jesus) and Domingos Ferreira. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. 

She is survived by her children, Natalia D. Silva and her husband Joao, Conceicao Branco and her husband Mario and Joao Domingos Fernandes and his wife Goretti; grandchildren, Sandy, Michael, Marilia, Amanda, Veronica, Rui, Patricia, Jessica, Manuel Jose and Jose Guilherme and 15 great grandchildren; as well as her daughter-in-law, Zelia Fernandes.

She was also the mother of the late Helder Fernandes.

Irondina’s visiting hours will be held on Thursday, February 22, 2024 at Perry Funeral Home from 5:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. Her funeral will take place Friday morning, beginning in the funeral home at 9:00 A.M. and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:00 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in South Dartmouth Cemetery.
