Janet F. Hernandez

Janet F. Hernandez, age 70, of Dartmouth, MA, passed away on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at St. Luke’s Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Born on May 27, 1955, in Manhattan, New York, she was the cherished daughter of the late Israel Hernandez Santiago and Maria Esther Acevedo Medina.

Janet is survived by her mother, Maria Esther Acevedo Medina; her former husband, Jose Alberto Ruiz Caban; her brother and sister, Israel Hernandez Acevedo and Zulma Hernandez Acevedo; as well as her sons, Jose Ruiz Hernandez, Dimex Ruiz Hernandez, Jonathan Ruiz Hernandez, and Jayron Ruiz Hernandez. In addition, she will be lovingly remembered by her daughters-in-law, Trisha M. Guzman, Leslinda Lugo, Janet Arias, and Janet Dexter.

Her legacy continues with her grandchildren: Stacy Ruiz, Chariel Ruiz, Lyneisha DeJesus, Nayeli DeJesus, Kyara De Jesus, Kydany DeJesus, Trisha Crespo, Delianyoli Aletriz, Naeyah Ruiz, Sinaily Ruiz, Tamishka Ruiz, Jaydien Ruiz, Aaden Hernandez, Kyano Ruiz, Itzel Ruiz, and Exel Ruiz. Janet is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Keniel Diaz, Bryan Ruiz, and Lariell Ruiz.

She was predeceased by her father, Israel Hernández Santiago; her sister, Nancy Hernández; her daughter, Lynnettte Ruiz; and her grandsons, Bryan Ruiz and Larry Ruiz.

Janet's memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She leaves behind a vibrant legacy of love, strength, and family devotion that will be cherished for generations to come.

Janet’s visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at Perry Funeral Home from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Her funeral service will take place the following morning beginning at 10:00 A.M., with a service at 11:00 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in Rural Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Perry Funeral Home, located at 111 Dartmouth Street, New Bedford.
