Joanne Marie Chaffino

Joanne Marie Chaffino, age 69, of east Providence, RI, passed on Monday, August 4, 2025, at her home after battling a recent declining in her health. She passed away with her loving daughter by her side. Joanne was born and raised in New Bedford, MA and she was the beloved daughter of the late Gerald Lionel Faucher and Rose (Silvia) Faucher.

Joanne was a proud graduate of New Bedford High School and went on to continue her studies at SMU (Umass Dartmouth now) earning a degree in Library Science. She was employed at Shaw’s Supermarket, where she dedicated 20 years of hardwork to the company before retiring.

She had a deep love for travel, and it was during one of her adventures that she met the love of her life, the late Jesus S. Chaffino, with whom she shared 46 wonderful years of marriage. Her fun, friendly, and free-spirited personality, combined with her strong will and motivation, made her a joy to be around and an inspiration to those who knew her.

She had a variety of interests that brought her joy in everyday life, she loved getting lost in a good book, tuning into her favorite reality TV shows and game shows like Jeapordy and Wheel of Fortune, and never missed a Sunday cheering on the New England Patriots during football season. Also loved going down to Foxwoods. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her two grandsons, Panagiotis Jordan and Athanasios Brady, whom she adored watching grow into the handsome young men they are today. Her warmth and love extended to the family pets as well, Champ, Sunny and Coco who were always by her side and brought her comfort and companionship.

Joanne is survived by her daughter, Jessica Rose Sakellaropoulos and her husband Christo of North Dartmouth, MA; her grandsons, Panagiotis Jordan and Athanasios Brady Sakellaropoulos; her brother, Gerald Faucher and his wife Marica of North Dartmouth, MA.

Also survived by her step-son from CA, step-daughter from AL and two nephews.

Joanne accompanied by her late husband Jesus S. Chaffino’s ashes will have visiting hours held on Wednesday, August 13, 2025 from 5:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. With a Cremation to follow.
