John "Butch" G. Reed

New Bedford – John G. “Butch” Reed, age 76, of New Bedford, MA passed away on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at Sarah S. Brayton Nursing Center. 

John was born in New Bedford, MA to the late Leonard Foss Reed and Ruth Elizabeth (Lackie) Reed. He had been a U.S. Army Veteran during the Vietnam War and later went on to work in the maintenance department at Mass Maritime Academy.

John is survived by his sons, Robert John Reed and his wife Cindy and David J. Reed and his wife Laura; his grandchildren, Skyla Reed, Vivian Reed and Camrin Reed; as well as his brother, George Reed. 

Private funeral arrangements were entrusted to Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth Street, New Bedford MA.
