Jose Luis Cordero aka "Speedy"

Jose Luis Cordero AKA Speedy, age 74, of New Bedford, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at St. Luke’s Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Born on July 14, 1951, in Manati, Puerto Rico, Jose was a cherished husband, beloved son, and dedicated member of his community.

Jose was the devoted husband of Ines M. (Reyes) Cordero, who will continue his legacy of love and devotion. Together, they shared many years of companionship and mutual support. He was the beloved son of the late Modesto Cordero and Isabel Valentine, whose memories he cherished deeply.

Throughout his life, Jose demonstrated a steadfast work ethic, having worked as a presser for a local sportswear manufacturer. His commitment to his craft and dedication to his work earned him respect among his colleagues and community. He enjoyed listening to his music loud , being around his family and friends his pride and joy his daughter Yolanda, he loved having his great grandchildren around. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Jose’s presence will be profoundly missed by his wife, Ines M. Cordero; daughter, Yolanda Carrion and her husband Juan, Eddie Reyes and his wife Amber Contreras, grandchildren, Catrina Cook, Luis Cordero, Nastacha Lassalle, Angel Cordero, Ruben Lassalle, Faith Cordero, Corey Neves, Raquel Reyes and Andralene Ladetto as well as 15 great grandchildren and 9 siblings. He was the father of the late Jose M. Cordero and Isabel Cordero.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, April 24, 2026, at Perry Funeral Home, located at 111 Dartmouth Street, New Bedford, Massachusetts. Family, friends, and all who knew Jose are invited to pay their respects from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. This will be followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM, with burial immediately following at Pine Grove Cemetery.
