José Correia

José Correia, 76, of New Bedford, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2026, at Boston Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. He was the cherished husband of Maria Jose (Moniz) Correia.

Born on January 18, 1950, in Salga, São Miguel, Azores, José was the beloved son of the late Saul Correia and Emilia (Bulhões) Correia. He worked for many years with Mahoney’s Building Supply and was known for his strong work ethic and dedication.

José had a lifelong passion for soccer. He not only enjoyed playing the game but also devoted many years to coaching and mentoring others. A loyal supporter of Benfica, he rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on his favorite team.

In addition to his beloved wife, Maria Jose Correia, José is survived by his loving sons, Richard J. Correia and his wife, Natalia, and Mark P. Correia; his cherished grandchildren, Lucas Correia, Madison Correia, and Nadia Correia; his great-grandson, Enzo Correia; his brother, Saul Correia; his sister, Normenia Pinto; and several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Perry Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:00 a.m. Cremation will follow.
