Jose Ortiz Ferrer

Jose Ortiz Ferrrer, age 51, of New Bedford, MA passed away on Friday, March 13, 2026 at St. Luke's Hospital with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Maritza Melendez Riveira.

Born on March 21, 1974, in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, Jose was the cherished son of Carlos Antonio Ortiz and Maria Ferrer.

Jose is survived by his wife, Maritza Melendz Riveira; his son, Carlos Jose Ortiz; his brothers and sisters, Daisy H. Ortiz Ferrer, Francis Ortiz Ferrer, Selma Ortiz Ferrer and Luis Angel Ortiz; his step-children, Nelson Alvado, Jailene M. David and Melanie C. David; his grandchildren, Joriel Gonzalez, Alexis Alvado and Neliany Alvado; as well as his nieces and nephews, Justin, Aleysa and Yadrian.

Jose's visiting hours will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2026 at Perry Funeral Home from 5:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. Cremation will follow.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Perry Funeral Home, located at 111 Dartmouth Street, New Bedford, MA.
