It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father Jose Manuel Vieira,age 81, who passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on February 2, 2026. He was the beloved husband of the late Amelia (Cabral) Vieira.
Born on July 31, 1944, Jose was the cherished son of the late Manuel and Carolina (Adriano) Vieira. He was the proud owner of Rebello’s Meat Market for 28 years.
Jose was the foundation of his family. He was a devoted husband to his late wife Amelia, the most loving and devoted father and Vavo whose greatest pride and joy was his family. His life was guided by his beautiful faith in God and enriched by his lifelong passion for music. Strong and tough in spirit, yet humble in heart and a great mentor who always led by example.Through his steady hands and generous heart, he taught us what responsibility, compassion and loyalty truly looked like. He lived with integrity and quiet generosity, showing us through his actions what it meant to work hard, care deeply and always stand by the people you love.
He found joy in life’s simple moments, time with his family, morning coffee and the comfort of being home sweet home with those he loved.
He is survived by his 3 children, Yvette Vieira, Andrea Vieira Amaral and Jonathan Vieira all of Dartmouth; 6 grandchildren, Alicia Andrade, Cameron Andrade, David Pimentel Junior., Austin Pimentel, Lilianna Vieira and Christian Vieira all of Dartmouth; 2 great-grandchildren, Faith Bairos and Nathyn Bairos, and his dear sons-in law and daughter-in-law, Guy Cleaves, Douglas Amaral and Dawn Vieira.
He is also survived by his siblings, Armanda Amaral, Angie Costa, Gabriella Medeiros, Delores Torres, Aermando Vieira, Carolina Torres and Manuel Vieira; as well as his cherished nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
He was predeceased by his sister, Ana Maria Machado.
His family will carry forward his legacy in the way we love, work and care for one another.Though our hearts ache in his absence, we find comfort in knowing that his life made a difference and that his love will continue to live on through us.
Dad’s journey on earth has ended but his influence will never fade. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished by his family and all whose lives he touched.
Jose’s visiting hours and funeral services will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026. Visiting hours will be held from 9:00am -11:00am and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 11:30am. Burial will immediately follow in the Rural Cemetery.Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Perry Funeral Home, located at 111 Dartmouth Street, New Bedford, MA.
