Joyce (Santos) Medeiros

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Joyce (Santos) Medeiros, 80, announces the passing of their mom on Saturday, December 13, 2025 after a period of declining health at Care One at New Bedford. She was the widow of William Paul Medeiros and the daughter of the late Virginio and Claudina Santos.

Joyce was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother as well as a care giver to all. Throughout her life she offered a listening ear and leading hand to all. Her presence will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Joyce had many jobs in her life but being a librarian is where she had the most pride. She worked in many different branches of the New Bedford Public Library.

Joyce is survived by her daughter Jennifer Raposa, her husband Cheyenne and their son Cody, her son Barry Stone and his son Jarred. She was blessed to have the opportunity to meet her great-grandchildren before her passing.

Joyce was predeceased by her husband, Bill and her son Brian Stone. She also was predeceased by her brothers, Antone and Charles Santos and their spouses, and her sisters, Hilda Pina and Dolores Macedo and their spouses.

The family wishes to thank the Ascend Hospice team, especially Chris, and the Nurses and CNA’s from both Fairhaven and Acushnet units at Care One for all the kindness, patience, compassion and LOVE they gave to Joyce as well as her family. It never went unnoticed!

In accordance with the families wishes private services for Joyce will be entrusted to the Perry Funeral Home. The family asks in memory of their mom you smile at a stranger in passing or share a hug with someone who needs one.
