Judith Theresa (Amorim) Almeida

Judith Theresa (Amorim) Almeida, age 82, of New Bedford, MA, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, November 22, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was the cherished wife of the late Raymond Almeida, with whom she shared a life full of love and devotion.

Born on October 8, 1943, in New Bedford, Judith was the beloved daughter of the late John Souza Amorim and Belmira (Dias) Amorim. Her deep roots in this community were reflected in her commitment to education; she dedicated many years as a teacher’s aide in the New Bedford Public School System, where she touched the lives of countless children with her kindness and guidance.

Judith is survived by her devoted sons, Raymond Paul Almeida and his wife Marie, and James Scott Almeida and his wife Dawn. She took immense pride in her grandchildren Kenneth Raymond Almeida and his wife Krystle, Kaitlyn Judith Forrester and her husband Derek, Kasey Leigh Almeida, Stephanie Korin Almeida and James Michael Almeida. Judith was also a proud great-grandmother to Rylee Almeida-Forrester, Kole Almeida, Khloe Almeida, and Nyzaiah Palmer, who brought her immeasurable joy.

Judith leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion that will be remembered by all who knew her. Her gentle spirit and unwavering support for her family will be sorely missed, but her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those she cherished.

Judith’s visiting hours and funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 26, 2025. Visiting hours will be held from 8:00 A.M. – 9:30 A.M. and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:00 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in St. John’s Cemetery.
