Juvenal Raposo Encarnacao, a beloved member of his family and community, passed away on February 11, 2026, at Charlton Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 15, 1943, in Sao Miguel, Azores, and over the years, Juvenal carved out a meaningful life dedicated to service and family.
Juvenal had a rewarding career as a cook for St. George's High School in Newport, Rhode Island. His passion for cooking was a reflection of his generous spirit, as he enjoyed nourishing the minds and bodies of the students he served. His culinary talents not only fed those who enjoyed his meals but also brought people together, fostering a sense of community and belonging.
He is survived by his cherished siblings, Berta Encarnacao, Eduardo Encarnacao, Joao Jose R. Encarnacao and his wife Grinalda, and Norberto R. Encarnacao. Juvenal took great pride in his family, which extended to his dear nieces, Suzanna Mattson and her husband David, Sandy Nascimento and her husband Anthony, and his nephew, John Encarnacao and his wife Raquel, was unwavering, and he treasured the moments spent with his great-nieces and great-nephews: Amanda and Alex Mattson, Justin and Kristin Nascimento, and Kevin and Kayla Encarnacao.
Juvenal was predeceased by his siblings, Vanda Arruda and Jose Joao Encarnacao, along with his sister-in-law, Ana Maria Encarnacao. Their memories will forever hold a special place in the hearts of those who loved him.Juvenal will be deeply missed by all who knew him, and his legacy will live on through the love and fond memories shared by family and friends.
Juvenal's visiting hours and funeral services will be held on February 20, 2026. Visiting hours will take place from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM at Perry Funeral Home and followed by A Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church beginning at 10:00 AM. Burial will immediately follow at Sacred Heart Old Cemetery.
