Kheana Rae Pina

Kheana Rae Pina, 45, of New Bedford, Massachusetts, passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2026. Born on April 1, 1981, in New Bedford, she was the loving mother of Rae-Jaun Cruz and the beloved daughter of Valerie R. Pina and Barry Andrade, and stepdaughter of Clyde Pina Sr.

Kheana’s life was marked by her dedication to learning and her passion for helping others. She graduated from UMass Dartmouth, earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Physiology and Elementary Education. She went on to work at Congdon School in New Bedford as a Para Teacher’s Aide, where she touched the lives of many children with her patience, care, and compassion.

Above all, Kheana loved her family more than anything, and she loved her son in a way that was truly unmatched. The bond they shared was so special that many lovingly referred to them as “the duo.” Being a mother was her greatest joy, and she embraced it with unconditional love, strength, and pride.

Kheana had a beautiful spirit that could light up any room. She loved everyone around her deeply and had a warmth that made people feel seen and cared for. She enjoyed dancing, singing, and taking peaceful trips to the beach—moments where she felt most free and happy.

She will be remembered as an amazing person whose kindness, love, and energy left a lasting impact on everyone she met.

Kheana is survived by her cherished son, Rae-Jaun Cruz; her loving mother, Valerie R. Pina; her father, Barry Andrade; her stepfather, Clyde Pina Sr.; her brothers, Clyde Pina Jr. and Tyler Pina; his fiancé, Courtney Merrill; her beloved nieces, Sofia M. Pina, Amarah L. Pina, and Mia L. Pina; as well as her aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family.

The family extends their deepest gratitude for the support and compassion shown during this time of profound loss. Kheana’s kindness, compassion, and radiant spirit will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A memorial service to honor Kheana will be held at a later date; updates will be provided for those wishing to pay their respects.
