April 29, 1956 - April 24, 2024

Linda Virginia (Kubel) Gissinger, 67, of South Dartmouth passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2024. The daughter of Louise (Magellan) Kubel and the late Stanley Kubel, Linda was a lifelong resident of the greater New Bedford area.

After graduating from Apponequet High School and Framingham State College, Linda dedicated her 33-year teaching career to the New Bedford Public Schools, with the majority of that time spent as a home economics teacher at Keith Junior High School. Most recently, she was a monitor with Tremblay’s Bus Company, helping children with special needs on the school bus each day.

Linda will forever be remembered for all of the positive attributes she bestowed on the people in her life: her bright smile and sparkling blue eyes; her generous spirit; her talented sewing and delicious cooking; her mischievous sense of humor; the countless summer days she spent at Fort Phoenix and Horseneck beaches; the genuine kindness she showed to others; her devotion to her daughter, Kara; and her love for her dog, Channing.

Survivors include her mother, Louise; her daughter, Kara Gissinger; her six siblings: Patricia Moore-Carroll and husband Tom, Elaine Lowther, Janice Gallagher and husband Bill, Stephen Kubel and wife Karen, Sharon Kubel, and Debra Hyde and husband Bob; more than a dozen nephews, nieces, and great-nephews; her former husband, Paul Gissinger; and countless friends and neighbors. She was preceded in death by her father, Stanley.

A private memorial service will be held for Linda in Florida. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to the Humane Society & Shelter SouthCoast or your local animal rescue.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth Street, New Bedford MA.
