Linda Susie Thomas Greene

Linda Susie Thomas Greene, 69, passed away on Sunday, August 30. Born in Newport, Rhode Island, Linda spent most of her life in New Bedford, Massachusetts, where she raised her family and built a life filled with both challenges and memories.

Linda was a woman who could never be described as ordinary. When she was happy, she could light up a room and become the life of the party. And when she was angry, there was no question about it—everyone knew. She was stubborn, outspoken, generous, loving, and fiercely devoted to the people she cared about.

Family meant everything to Linda. She loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren deeply, and her family remained one of the most important parts of her life. She was a woman who loved hard, felt deeply, and left an impression on the people around her.

Linda’s life was not an easy one. As a young woman in her thirties, she suffered through numerous illnesses that left her disabled and changed the course of her life. Yet even through years of illness, hardship, and adversity, she continued to fight. She went on to raise four children on her own, doing the best she could with what life had given her.

Linda never pretended that she had lived a perfect life. She made mistakes, as we all do, and there were things she wished she could have changed. But those mistakes were only one part of her story. They do not erase the strength it took to keep moving forward, to raise her children, and to continue loving her family despite everything she had endured.

Linda was preceded in death by her sons, Robert Greene and Malcolm Greene, losses she carried with her throughout the remainder of her life.

She leaves behind her daughter, Marion Greene, and her son, Reggie Greene, along with her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Linda will be remembered for her strength, her stubbornness, her generosity, her unmistakable personality, and most of all, the love she had for her family. Her life was imperfect, complicated, and at times incredibly difficult—but it was also filled with love, laughter, resilience, and moments that her family will carry with them forever.

She fought through more than most people will ever know. She loved her family with everything she had. And even though she is no longer here, a part of Linda will continue to live on in every child, grandchild, and great-grandchild who carries something of her with them.

She was one of a kind. She was strong. She was Mom. And she will be deeply missed and forever loved.
