Lisetta (Goncalves) Silva, age 82, of New Bedford, Massachusetts, passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2026 at home surrounded by the love of her family. She was the cherished wife of Helder Silva, who stood by her side in life . She also was the beloved daughter of the late Manuel Goncalves and Rosa Goncalves and sibling to her late brother Manuel Goncalves and late sisters, Maria Olga Melo and Eulalia Oliveria.


Lisetta was born in Faial, Horta - Azores on September 06, 1943, where she spent her childhood years. At the age of 21, Lisetta embarked on a new chapter of her life, moving from the Azores to the United States. She devoted herself to her family, first working as a seamstress for a local clothing manufacturer, then as a child care worker, before dedicating her time to being a loving homemaker. Throughout the years, she cared deeply for her children and her home, nurturing all those around her with kindness and support.


Lisetta was known for her many talents and passions. She found joy in crocheting, and knitting , often creating beautiful pieces for her loved ones. She had a love of reading and you could always find a book at hand. She loved to listen to her Portuguese music and dancing. Her skills in the kitchen were especially treasured, as she delighted in baking desserts that brought family and friends together. Her special family favorite being her bread pudding. She also was a long time member of the Portuguese-American Holy Ghost organization (Irmandade do Divino Esposito Santo ) Above all, it was the simple moments spent with her family that Lisetta cherished the most, finding her greatest happiness in their company.


She will be forever remembered for her warmth, generosity, and unwavering dedication to her family. Her legacy of love, strength, and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Lisetta leaves behind her devoted husband-Helder Silva; her children-daughter Lisa Rockwell with spouse Jeffrey Rockwell-son Helder Silver with spouse Shannon Faulkner; grandchildren-Derrek Garcia with spouse Jessica Garcia, Shawn and Ambur Garcia, and Fernando Silva; great grandchildren - Xavier and Felicity Garcia; many nieces and nephews and in laws.


Visiting hours: Thursday, July 2, 2026, at Perry Funeral Home from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM 111 Dartmouth Street, New Bedford, MA Her Funeral following: St. Julie Billiart Church at 11:00 AM. 494 Slocum road, Dartmouth MA. Burial will immediately follow after at St. John’s Cemetery.

Perry Funeral Home, entrusted with the arrangements, provides a respectfully appointed facility featuring a lighted parking lot and a handicap-accessible ramp and entrance, ensuring comfort and convenience for all who attend.
