Lucy Medeiros

Lucy (Porto) Medeiros, age 81, of New Bedford, MA, passed away on Monday, September 22, 2025, at Country Gardens Health and Rehabilitation. She was the beloved wife of the late Manuel F. Medeiros.

Born on April 30, 1944, in Sao Miguel, Azores, Lucy was the cherished daughter of the late Arsenio Porto and Mary (Sousa) Porto. Throughout her life, Lucy dedicated herself to helping others as a Certified Nursing Assistant at the Sacred Heart Nursing Home, where her compassion and warmth made a lasting impact on those she cared for. Her warm spirit and kind nature will be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched.

Family was at the heart of Lucy's life; she thoroughly enjoyed spending precious moments with her loved ones, especially her grandchildren. Lucy is survived by her children, Mark Medeiros and his wife Lisa, Lori A. Cabral and her husband Michael, and Victoria Maniatis. She was a proud grandmother to Tara Valente, Paige Medeiros, Logan Cabral, and Camryn Maniatis, and a delighted great-grandmother to Benjamin Valente. Lucy is also survived by her brother, Victor Porto, and her sisters, Mary Martins and Virginia Raposa.

In addition to her parents and husband, Lucy was predeceased by her late siblings, Arsenio Porto, Suzanna Raposo, and Joao Porto, who she will surely join in eternal rest.

Visiting hours for Lucy will be held on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at Perry Funeral Home from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Her funeral will take place on Friday morning, starting in the funeral home at 9:00 A.M., and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Burial will immediately follow in St. John's Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Perry Funeral Home, which offers ample lighted parking and is equipped with a handicap-accessible ramp entrance to facilitate ease for all who wish to pay their respects.
