Manuel (Manny) Araujo, age 84, of Dartmouth, MA, passed away peacefully at home on January 3, 2026, after a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of Deolinda (Arruda) Araujo and the late Maria (Costa) Araujo.
Born on July 10, 1941, in Bretanha, Sao Miguel, Azores, Manuel was the beloved son of the late Joao and Maria da Conceicao (Arruda) Araujo. He proudly served in the military in Portugal before embarking on a new chapter in his life by moving to the United States in 1966. In Massachusetts, he found work as a laborer with Bertone & Sons Construction in Braintree and became a respected member of the L.I.U.N.A. Local #385. His faith was an integral part of his life, and he was a longtime parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.
Manuel had a deep appreciation for the simple pleasures in life. He enjoyed strolling through Buttonwood Park, dedicating hours to his beloved garden, and immersing himself in woodworking, each project reflecting his passion and craftsmanship.
He is survived by his wife, Deolinda Araujo; his son, Kevin Araujo; and his daughter, Sandy Araujo, both of Dartmouth; as well as his stepson, Danny Arruda of Florida. Manuel's legacy also lives on through his siblings: his sisters, Diolinda Reis and Gilda Aguiar, both residing in Canada, and his brothers, Joao, Gil, Fernando, and Duarte Araujo, all of Sao Miguel.
He was predeceased by his late siblings, including Jose Araujo of Canada and Benvinda Andrade of Sao Miguel, who will be remembered fondly.
In this time of mourning, we remember Manuel not just for his accomplishments but for the warmth, kindness, and love he brought to all who knew him. He will be dearly missed.
Manuel's family and friends will gather to honor his life during visiting hours held on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at Perry Funeral Home from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. A funeral service will take place on Thursday morning, beginning at 9:00 A.M. in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:00 A.M. Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Manuel’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
