Manuel G. Evangelho, age 85, of New Bedford, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of Norberta (daFonte) Evangelho.

Born on December 12, 1940, in Sao Miguel, Azores, Manuel was the cherished son of the late Jacinto Evangelho and Silvina Guilhermina (gharcia) Evangelho. Throughout his life, he served with honor in the Portuguese Army, demonstrating a commitment to duty and country. Upon immigrating to the United States, Manuel worked diligently as a painter for many years, contributing both skill and dedication to his trade.

Manuel was a man who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved fishing, woodworking, and spending time playing cards, engaging in these pastimes with enthusiasm and camaraderie. These hobbies reflected his patient nature and his appreciation for both craft and connection. In remembering Manuel, we celebrate a life marked by loyalty, hard work, and the warmth of family. His legacy will endure in the hearts of those he loved and who loved him in return.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Norberta Evangelho; his loving son, Steven A. Evangelho; and his two cherished granddaughters, Eryn E. Evangelho and Lauren A. Evangelho. Their presence was a source of great happiness and pride to Manuel throughout his life.

Funeral services were held privately, attended by close friends and family who gathered to honor and remember a man whose gentle spirit and steadfast devotion touched all who knew him.
