Manuel Pina, Sr.

Manuel Pina, Sr., a respected member of the New Bedford community, peacefully passed away at the age of 90 on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at Hathaway Manor. He was surrounded by his loving family during his final moments, a testament to the deep bonds he nurtured throughout his life.

Born on November 2, 1935, in Carver, Massachusetts, Manuel was the cherished son of the late Manuel Mendes Pina and Mary Ann (Thatcher) Pina. His early years were marked by dedication and service, as after graduating from high school, he honorably served in the United States Army. Following his military service, Manuel devoted many years to the construction field, contributing his skills and hard work to numerous projects, shaping the landscape of his community. He was a proud member of Local 385 Union in Fairhaven, MA. He was man whose quiet strength and devotion to his family and work left an indelible mark on all who knew him.

Manuel’s legacy is carried on by his devoted son, Manuel Pina, Jr., and his beloved granddaughter, Arielle Marie Reyes, who survive him and continue to honor his memory. He was also the father of the late Candy Ann (Pina) Alves, whose memory remains a cherished part of his life story.

Family and friends are welcome to honor Manuel's life during his visiting hours on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at Perry Funeral Home from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Following the visitation, cremation will take place.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Perry Funeral Home, located at 111 Dartmouth Street, New Bedford, Massachusetts.
