Marcia (Oliveira) Foucart, age 85, of New Bedford, MA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 7, 2025, at Our Lady’s Haven. Born on September 1, 1939, in New Bedford, Marcia was the beloved daughter of the late Manuel Oliveira and Doris (Brindle) Oliveira.
Marcia's legacy will live on through her devoted children, Bruce M. Foucart and his wife Corbina, Paul B. Foucart and his wife Luana, and Wendy Foucart. She took great joy in her grandchildren, including Corbin R. Foucart, Abigail B. Foucart, Brittany M. Lunny, Brendan Lunny, Kaeden D. Foucart, and Maile A. Foucart. Her family was her pride and joy.
In addition to her immediate family, Marcia is survived by her loving sisters, Linda Bernier and Pamela DeBrosse. She is also mourned by her nephew, Warren Bernier, and her niece, Laurie Bernier.
Marcia was a health and physical education teacher in the New Bedford School System for over 25 years. She worked at Keith and Roosevelt Junior High Schools and New Bedford High School. She touched the lives of many students. She also coached the New Bedford High School girl’s field hockey team and later was a college and high school field hockey referee.
Marcia had a love for sports. She played basketball for Bridgewater State College, softball in the City of New Bedford women’s league and could always be found playing tennis at Buttonwood park. She also became an avid golfer and sailor. She was always involved with her children’s interests and referred to herself as her children’s #1 fan during their athletic, theater and majorette activities. She loved playing golf throughout the area as well as watching sports. She is a dedicated Red Sox and New England Patriots fan.
Marcia's visiting hours are scheduled for Sunday afternoon, August 10, 2025, at Perry Funeral Home from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Her funeral will commence on Monday morning, with a gathering in the funeral home at 9:00 A.M., followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Martin's Episcopal Church at 10:00 A.M. Marcia will be laid to rest in Rural Cemetery immediately following the service.
