Maria da Conceicao Brum

New Bedford – Maria da Conceicao (Veloso) Brum, age 87, of New Bedford, MA, passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at St. Luke’s Hospital with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Ernesto Matias Brum. 

Born in Ribeira Cha, Sao Miguel, Azores, she was the beloved daughter of the late Manuel Caetano Veloso and Maria Luiza (Tore) Veloso. She had worked at various local textile manufacturers as a hand trimmer and folder.

Maria is survived by her children, Edward Brum and his wife Anne Brum, Mary DiPaola and her husband Daniel DiPaola, Delores Brum and her companion John Vieira and Elizabeth Coelho and her husband John Coelho; grandchildren, Jade and her husband Ryan, Tyler, Jonathan, Sarah and Lucas; great-grandchild, Evelyn Grace Boucher; sister, Maria dos Anjos Mota and her husband Jose; as well as her nephew, Peter and her niece, Jeanie. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews on her husband’s side, of which she maintained a close relationship with her niece Gorette Realejo and her husband Frank.

Maria’s visiting hours and funeral services will be held on Monday, May 20, 2024. Visiting hours will be held at Perry Funeral Home from 10:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. with a funeral service to begin at 12:00 P.M. Burial will immediately follow in Rural Cemetery.
