Maria C. Amaral

New Bedford, MA – Maria Cordeiro Amaral, age 82, of Dartmouth, MA passed away at St. Luke’s Hospital with her loving family by her side on Sunday, June 2, 2024. She was the beloved wife of the late Serafim R. Amaral. 

Maria was born in St. Michael, Azores and was the beloved daughter of the late Manuel Cordeiro and Maria N. (Ferreira) Cordeiro. She had worked as a nurse’s aide for a private visiting nurse agency.

Maria is survived by her children, Susana Smith and her husband Al, Elizabeth Garcia and her husband Joe, Rodney Joseph Fernandes and his wife Eulalia "Lolly", Robert Amaral and his wife Kimberly and Brian Amaral and his wife Chrissie; 12 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren; sister, Maria Mercedes Correia; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was also the mother of the late Phyllis Rogers, Victor Fernandes and Linda Fernandes and sister in law of the late Lionel Correia

A funeral mass and burial of Maria’s cremains will be held at St Marys Church Dartmouth on Monday July 1 at 10:00 A.M. Everyone is asked to meet directly at Church. Burial will follow at Rural Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth Street, New Bedford.
