Maria Roda Caixeiro

New Bedford – Maria Roda Caixeiro, age 89, of Dartmouth, MA passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2024 at Care One at New Bedford with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Manuel Caixeiro.

Maria was born in Figueira da Foz, Portugal to the late Manuel dosSantos Roda and Maria Marques (Fidalgo) Roda. She came to the United States in 1974 and settled in this area to raise her family. She had worked as a seamstress for various local clothing manufacturers over the years. 

In her free time, she enjoyed cooking and crocheting. Maria, above all else, loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-granddaughters.

Maria is survived by her daughter, Diana Lebre and her husband Antonio; daughter, Ana Cristina Salvador and her husband Alvaro; granddaughters, Monica Lebre and her husband Manuel Martins, Philip Lebre, Stefan Salvador and his wife Ashley and Jacqueline Leonor and her husband Cody; and her great-granddaughters, Catia Martins, Nina Salvador and Karmen Salvador. She is also survived by her siblings, Domingos Roda and his wife Saudade, Rosa Estrela Pereira and her husband Joaquim; sister-in-law, Deolinda Roda; godchild, Madalena Pata Bernardino; her cousin José Manuel Fidalgo and his wife Louisa Fidalgo of Portugal; as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was also predeceased by her brother, Manuel Roda.

Maria’s visiting hours and funeral service will be held on Friday, December 27, 2024 at Perry Funeral Home. Her visiting hours will take place in the funeral home from 9:00 A.M. -12:00 P.M. with a funeral service to begin at 12:00 P.M. Burial will immediately follow in South Dartmouth Cemetery.
