Maria Grace Costa

Maria “Grace” Costa, 59, of New Bedford passed away on Saturday November 11th surrounded by family at St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford after battling declining health for several years.

She was born in Agua de Pau, Azores, Portugal to the late Gil DeAlmeida and Maria (Estereiro) DeAlmeida and the immigrated with her family to the United States in 1972.

She leaves her husband of 40 years Pedro Costa, her son Jordan Costa and his partner Kristyn Pierce, daughter Crystal Costa and her partner Anthony Cahill, granddaughters: Nevaeh Magalhaes, Audriana Costa and Arabella Pierce. She is survived by her sister Ana Medeiros and her husband Joe Medeiros of Acushnet and is the sister of the late Antonio Almeida. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews who were like children to her, other family and friends from Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Florida, Canada and the Azores.

Grace worked most recently at Sacred Heart Nursing Home in New Bedford. She cherished the relationships she cultivated with residents and coworkers there over the years. Many of her coworkers became her close friends.

Grace loved the ocean, antiquing at New Bedford Antiques at the Cove and most of all, she loved spending time with her family.
