Maria de Fatima Almeida

New Bedford- Maria de Fatima Almeida, age 78, of New Bedford passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Pedro Almeida.

Maria was born in Freguesia da Conceição, Angra Do Heroismo, Terceira, Acores, Portugal, to the late Jesuina (Borges) Da Silva and João Da Silva. She worked as a Stitcher at Ginger Peachy Manufacturer until she retired. She then took on housekeeping until her passing. Maria adored spending time with her family, especially her great-grandchildren. She loved shopping, watching reality TV, and going on family vacations, particularly to Walt Disney World. 

Maria is survived by her husband, Pedro; daughter, Ana Almeida; grandchildren, Kendra, Kaylee, and Noah Vieira; great-grandchildren, Sebastian Costa, Everlee Acosta, and Kali Hokoana; her sister, Maria João Gambão; her dearest cousin, Maria Soares; sister-in-law, Almerinda Almeida; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

Maria’s visiting hours and funeral services will be held on Friday, May 24, 2024. Visiting hours will be held at Perry Funeral Home from 8:00 A.M. – 9:30 A.M. and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:00 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in Rural Cemetery.
