New Bedford – Maria do Rosário Pavao de Medeiros, age 83, of Dartmouth, MA passed away on Friday, March 1, 2024 at Brandon Woods of Dartmouth after a period of declining health, with her loving family by her side. She was the loving wife of Manuel de Medeiros.
Maria was born in Pilar da Bretanha, Sao Miguel, Azores to the late Ilda dos Santos Pavao and Jose Dias Pavao. She immigrated to the US in 1978. She worked as a seamstress and presser at various local textile factories for many years. Maria was a very loving soul who left a great impact with everyone she was with.
Maria was a loving, devoted wife to her husband, Manuel and an extraordinary Mother to her children, whom she loved unconditionally. She also adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and of course everyone else’s too. Maria was known for her kindness and generosity and she had an amazing ability to make people feel special and loved. She will be greatly missed by many.
Maria is survived by her children, Jose M. Medeiros and his wife Olga, Maria Medeiros-Oliveira and her husband Pedro, Ilda de Medeiros and Helena M. Alfonso and her husband Dana; 6 grandchildren, Manuel Raposo, Raquelle Raposo, Tyler Medeiros, Nina Medeiros, Evan Alfonso and Ariana Alfonso; 3 great-grandchildren, Brooke Arruda, Zoey Raposo and Stella Raposo; her siblings, Joao Pavao, Cecelia Sao Joao, Octavio Pavao and their spouses, as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was also the sister of the late Miguel and Eduardo (Eddie) Pavao.
Maria’s visiting hours will be on Friday, March 8, 2024 from 5:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. Her funeral will take place on Saturday, beginning in the funeral home at 9:00 A.M. and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Church in South Dartmouth at 10:00 A.M. Burial will follow at South Dartmouth Cemetery.
