Maria dos Anjos Raposo da Silva Camara

Maria dos Anjos Raposo da Silva Camara, aged 93, of New Bedford, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 3, 2026, at her home, embraced by the love and care of her family. She was the cherished wife of the late Jose Pereira Camara.

Maria was born on November 2, 1932, in Sao Miguel, Azores, a place that shaped her early years and instilled in her the values she carried throughout her life. She was the beloved daughter of the late Andre da Silva Amorim and Maria Teresa Raposo. Throughout her working years, Maria dedicated herself as a solderer at Cornell Dubilier, before retiring to take care of her late husband. She helped raised 4 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren demonstrating a strong work ethic and commitment to family that defined much of her life.

She is survived by her daughters, Gloria Cabral and her husband Albert, and Connie Teixeira and her husband Guilherme. Her family further extends to cherished grandchildren: Christopher Teixeira and his wife Elizabeth, Jennifer Carreiro, Michael Teixeira, and Brandon Cabral. Maria’s legacy is also carried on through her great-grandchildren, Miguel Carreiro, Makenzie Teixeira, and JC Teixeira. She is also survived by her sisters, Fatima Ledo and Leonor Anselmo, along with several nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.

Maria was predeceased by her late siblings, Maria Machado and Joao Silva, whose memories live on in the family’s hearts.

Maria will be remembered for her enduring strength, devotion to her family, and the quiet dignity with which she met life’s challenges. Her memory will remain a guiding light to those who had the privilege of knowing her.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday evening, April 8, 2026, at Perry Funeral Home from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Her funeral service will begin on Thursday morning at 9:00 AM in the funeral home and will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:00 AM. Burial will immediately follow in St. John’s Cemetery.
