Maria da Silva Gingeira

Maria S. (da Silva) Gingeira, age 94, of New Bedford, MA, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at her home, with her loving family by her side. She was the cherished wife of the late Jose Mariano Gira, whose memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew them.

Born on December 8, 1930, in Horta, Faial, Azores, Maria was the daughter of the late Manuel da Silva and Filomena (Vargas) da Silva. Throughout her life, Maria demonstrated a remarkable work ethic, serving as a stitcher for a local clothing manufacturer where her craftsmanship contributed significantly to the community.

Maria is survived by her son, Jose Mariano Gingeira, along with an extended circle of friends and family who will fondly remember her warmth and kindness. The lasting impact of her life will be felt by all who had the privilege of being part of her journey. Maria’s funeral services will be held privately, honoring the family's wishes and the legacy she leaves behind.
