Maria Alice da Gloria Saude

Maria Alice da Gloria (Bettencourt) Saude, aged 79, New Bedford, MA, passed away on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at St. Luke’s Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was the cherished wife of the late Antonio Freitas Saude.

Born on December 3, 1945, in Pico, Azores, Maria was the daughter of the late Antonio Silveira Bettencourt and Adelaide da Gloria Bettencourt. Her journey through life was marked by her commitment to her family and her work, exemplified by her many years as a tester for Carol & Columbia Cable.

Maria had a passion for baking, often pouring her love into the treats she prepared for her family. This willingness to share her culinary creations reflected her warmth and dedication to nurturing those around her. Time spent with her grandchildren, Luka and Lex Saude, brought her immense joy, and she cherished each moment they shared together.

She is survived by her son, Jeffrey B. Saude, and his wife Melissa Saude. Additionally, her memory will continue to be honored by her brother, Alfredo Bettencourt, and his wife Maria Bettencourt, along with several nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart. Maria's legacy of love, family, and kindness will forever remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have known her.

Maria's visiting hours and funeral services will be observed on Thursday, September 11, 2025. The visiting hours will take place from 8:00 A.M. to 9:30 A.M., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:00 A.M. She will be laid to rest in St. John’s Cemetery, where loved ones will gather to pay their final respects.
